Master Movie (2021):

Master is a Tamil action film written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Produced by Xavier Britto, under his maiden production house XB Film Creators. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while cinematography and editing are performed by Sathyan Sooryan and Philomin Raj respectively.

The film stars Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi with Malavika Mohanan, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Andrea Jeremiah, Arjun Das and Gouri G. Kishan play other supporting roles. The film was released in theatres on 13 January 2021, a day before Pongal. In addition, the film was simultaneously dubbed and released in Telugu, Kannada and Hindi (titled Vijay the Master) languages. Master also became the fastest Tamil film to be streamed on a digital platform, where the makers teamed up with Amazon Prime Video and premiered after 16 days of theatrical release on 29 January 2021, along with a Malayalam dubbed version.

Master Movie Storyline (Plot/Synopsis):

The film revolves around an alcoholic professor, J. D. (Vijay), who takes a three-month teaching job in a juvenile home and clashes with a ruthless gangster named Bhavani (Vijay Sethupathi), who uses the children as the scapegoat for his criminal activities.

Master Movie Cast and Characters:

  • Vijay as John “J.D.” Durairaj, an alcoholic college professor popular for his friendly approach towards students. He soon embarks on a mission to reform the inmates of the juvenile detention facility.
  • Vijay Sethupathi as Bhavani, a notorious gangster known for his ruthless actions and criminal activities. He uses the inmates of the juvenile detention facility to surrender on his behalf, in order to escape from the law.

  • Malavika Mohanan as Charulatha “Charu” Prasad, an NGO-volunteer and newly hired lecturer at J.D.’s college, who investigates and fights against the criminal activities of the juvenile detention facility. She later develops feelings for J.D. (Voice dubbed by Raveena Ravi).
  • Shanthanu Bhagyaraj as Bhargav, a student who is angry at his co-student Savitha during the election, but later turns her best friend.
  • Andrea Jeremiah as Vanathi, J.D.’s friend and an expert in archery.
  • Arjun Das as Das, an ally of Bhavani responsible for the illegal drug and alcoholic activities in the juvenile detention facility. He later reforms himself and joins J.D. in his fight against Bhavani.
